4 Tomato Face Masks: Get Flawless Skin Without Makeup

Have you ever heard of a tomato face mask? It is something that would most likely be offered at a spa, but it normally isn’t. Some spas do promise to give you radiant, rosy-white skin, but they don’t always deliver.

There are times when the beauty technician is not highly-trained and the spa doesn’t use high-quality products at all.

Thanks to persistent beauty advocates, you don’t even need to spend thousands of dollars on spa visits to make your skin stunning. Your pantry has everything you need for glowing skin.

This is more beneficial and safer than purchasing synthetic beauty products. Using organic components on your skin helps keep it undeniably healthy and beautiful for a long time.

Tomato for skin

During my pre-puberty days, the elders in my family kept on praising my female cousin because she had this rosy white, flawless complexion.

They all swore that she had that kind of skin since she was a small child because she was fond of eating tomatoes.

She ate them like they were juicy apples. I suppose that may have contributed a lot to her skin’s beauty because when you eat tomatoes, you get vitamins and nutrients such as lycopene to enhance and bring out youthful, radiant skin.

The humble tomato is also known as the “Poor Man’s Apple”. It is a rich source of antioxidants that ward off free radicals that cause unsightly fine lines and deep wrinkles. You can start adding cherry tomatoes to your daily garden salad to get beautiful skin from within.

It doesn’t stop there with tomatoes. You can apply tomatoes topically as an effective facial mask to help with your acne problem. It helps rid your skin of acne and red acne scars. It also lightens darkened areas of your skin.

Can I rub tomato on face daily?

You can do this routine 2 or 3x a week as tomatoes are acidic which can give your skin a youthful glow but can be a bit harsh for some people who have over-sensitive skin.

Signs of a skin reaction ( for sensitive skin) include:

  • rash
  • itching
  • redness
  • other irritation

Tomatoes act as an astringent and can reduce the appearance of large pores.

However, it’s better to do a patch test on your wrist before trying it on your face especially if you have a concern on how your face might respond.

Can tomatoes lighten your skin?

Tomatoes contain bleaching properties that help brighten your skin while improving skin texture, lighten dark spots or skin imperfections.

Aside from its acidic nature tomato contains a high amount of salicylic acid which is a basic ingredient in acne products. This enzyme helps to gently exfoliate the skin and a great way to unclog pores and get rid of blackheads.

What happens if you rub a tomato on your face?

Tomato is a chock full of vitamin C, vitamin A, K, and citric acid, all are needed for healthy, glowing skin. Because of its astringent properties, applying tomato juice on the skin aids in reducing excess sebum preventing oil build-up while balancing your skin.

Since tomatoes contain a high level of Lycopene, it works against free radicals such as pollutants that can damage our healthy skin cells.

My facial skin is susceptible to blackheads. Imagine just how ecstatic I became when I discovered that there are so much benefits of applying tomato on face. One of these advantages is that the humble tomato juice for skin can help rid of blackheads if used regularly.

Even so, I was told it wasn’t magic or an overnight solution. It can actually take weeks or even months of consistent use, but if you want to get that flawless glow, patience is mandatory.

Personally, I don’t mind at all. I would rather take a natural and safe path to beautiful skin.

8 benefits of applying tomatoes on Face

  • The acid content in tomatoes helps eliminate rough and dull skin. It also promotes the renewal of cells.
  • The astringent property of tomatoes helps lighten fine wrinkles, whitens skin, tightens large pores, and firms up the skin.
  • This fruit’s cooling attributes soothe sunburn.
  • The salicylic acid in tomatoes is a common component in known acne products. Salicylic acid cleanses your skin and exfoliates the skin to get rid of unwanted dead skin cells. This prevents the occurrence of whiteheads, acne, and blackheads.
  • Tomatoes also have a strong antioxidant called lycopene that also combats free radicals responsible for those age spots and wrinkles.
  • Using tomatoes regularly on your face will remove all the impurities, leaving your face polished and glowing.
  • The acids in tomatoes also help eliminate excess oil and regulate the oil production of your skin.
  • The antibacterial properties of tomatoes also help treat acne and remove blackheads.

Tomato juice, when applied on the skin, can work as an excellent astringent which is perfect for oily skin.

But the real secret here is the lycopene in the tomatoes.

What Is Lycopene? Lycopene is a carotenoid normally found in some fruits, a natural occurring compound that gives tomatoes their bright red color. It is a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect our skin or body from the environmental elements.

This nutrient not only heightens skin resilience, but it also quenches free radicals hence induces the body protection mechanism against oxidative stress and inflammation.

You can simply visualize how powerful it is when applied directly to your skin.

That’s one of the reasons why it is a main ingredient in lots of commercial skincare products.
