This Oil Cleansing Method is Meant to Cure Acne

The perfect skin – so many women, dream about it, and they try all kinds of procedures in hopes of getting rid of blemishes or imperfections.

There are expensive cosmetic products that can be used for the purpose and there are natural remedies. Some of these have been around for centuries, proving their efficiency and safety.

Oil Cleansing To Get Healthier Skin

Oil cleansing is probably one of the simplest methods to get perfect skin. The concept may appear strange in the beginning, but once you give it a try, you will understand that it works.

Cleansing your skin with oil thoroughly removes makeup, dirt, and sweat. It will not strip your skin of its natural oil like most cleansers tend to do.

When you strip your skin of its natural oil, you can break out MORE because your skin is overcompensating for the dryness. So you wind up with dry skin and acne. NO fun at all.

Oil cleansers target sebum… so essentially you are attaching the oil of your skin to the oil you are cleansing with, and this results in the ultimate deep cleanse.

The procedure involves natural oils like jojoba, castor, olive or coconut oil. It is used to clean the skin and get rid of excessive sebum production. Yes, oil can be used to decrease skin oiliness.

Essential oils contain healthy nutrients, and they clean the skin from dirt and bacteria buildup. Both of these issues cause serious problems like irritation, excessive oiliness and acne.

Oil Dissolves Oil

Oil dissolves oil. One of the most basic principles of chemistry is that “like dissolves like.” The best way to dissolve a non-polar solvent like sebum/oil is by using another non-polar solvent similar in composition: other oils.

By using the right oils, you can cleanse your pores of dirt and bacteria naturally, gently and efficiently, while replacing the dirty oil with beneficial ones extracted from natural botanicals, vegetables, and fruit that heal, protect and nourish your skin.

When done correctly and consistently, the OCM can clear the skin from issues like oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, blackheads, whiteheads and other problems caused by mild to moderate acne–while leaving your skin healthy, balanced and properly moisturized.

The oil cleansing method is effective for many reasons. First of all, it makes use of castor oil, which has anti-inflammatory as well as antiseptic properties, making it a powerful healing agent which can help to draw impurities out of your skin.

Second, believe it or not, oil helps to dissolve dirt, oil, and impurities in your skin (this is why many effective eye makeup removers are oil-based).

Furthermore, since you are not stripping your skin of its natural oils by washing it with over-the-counter face washes (which can contain all sorts of chemicals and detergents), your skin is given an opportunity to find balance.

Your skin won’t need to frantically overproduce oil to compensate for your face wash, thus leaving your pores relaxed and clog-free.

Another pleasant side-effect of this face washing method is that you won’t need to buy and use over-the-counter moisturizer anymore, which may also contain unknown chemicals that can be absorbed into your body through your skin.

How to Use Cleansing Oil

Find a Suitable Oil for your Skin

Start by choosing a natural oil of preference. You can try several possibilities until you discover the one suited best to your skin type. This can be jojoba, castor oil, coconut oil, or olive oil.

A combination of natural ingredients, especially ones that have soothing and anti-bacterial qualities, will deliver the biggest benefits. The most common oils are probably a combination of extra virgin olive oil and castor oil. Depending on your skin type you’ll use the following ratio:

  • Dry skin: 3:1 ratio olive oil to castor oil
  • Normal skin: 1:1 ratio of olive oil to castor oil
  • Oily skin: 1:3 ratio olive oil to castor oil

01

Choose Your Oil

Personally, I like to use Jojoba oil or the cold pressed OLIVE OIL and it works great. You can also actually experiment with different oils.

Or you can just start with Coconut Oil or some of the following best facial oils:

Best Oil for Face

Skin Types Compatible Cleansing Oils
Sensitive rice bran, grapeseed, apricot kernel, fractionated coconut oil (FCO), jojoba, safflower, sunflower, sweet almond, watermelon, calendula, sea buckthorn, emu oil, mineral oil (purest grade), camellia oil
Dry Skin extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), macadamia, corn, avocado, sesame, sunflower, wheat germ, coconut oil, shea oil, sweet almond, emu oil, camellia oil
Oily Skin grapeseed, jojoba, watermelon, hazelnut, safflower, hazelnut, peach kernel, rice bran
Acne Skin neem, jojoba, grapeseed, rice bran, apricot seed, hazelnut, peach kernel, sweet almond, sunflower, safflower, walnut, rosehips seed (tolerance varies), tea tree eo, manuka eo
Normal sunflower, canola, sweet almond, olive, safflower, avocado, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), camellia oil, mineral oil (purest grade)
Mature rosehip seed, borage, carrot, sweet almond, olive, avocado, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), emu oil, red raspberry, camellia oil

02

Use your hands to Massage the Oil on your skin

Put some oil in your palm and rub to warm it. Massage on your face and focus on any areas of tension as well as the areas that tend to get clogged up with blackheads.

You can take a good minute or two to really work in this area.

Circular motion is best because it will improve circulation – one of the prerequisites for a healthy, and youthful skin. The massage and the active ingredients in the oil will work together to clean the skin and to nourish it intensely.

03

Steam your Face

This is optional but I like this method. To increase the effect of the procedure, you can apply a warm washcloth to the area covered with the oil.

Wring out the hot wash cloth under the faucet, press it into your skin and have a little moment to just absorb the warmth.

The heat will increase the absorption of the beneficial nutrients, and it will stimulate pore opening. Steaming is another high possibility on how to clean pores to get clearer, blemish-free skin.

You can use an at home facial steamer on this process.

04

Wipe your Face and remove excess oil

Relax for a couple of minutes and remove the washcloth from your face.

  • With your washcloth, make a little mitt and then you’re going to use circular movements to remove the oil from the face.
  • Starting at the forehead, move down the face using circular motion, moving out towards the hairline.
  • If you feel like you need another round, you can rinse the washcloth under the warm water again and do a second removal.

Continue to wipe the excess oil off and voila – you are ready to go for the next step. Applying the toner.

The key here is patience. Everybody has a different type of skin, and therefore, it may take several weeks for your skin to adjust fully. If your skin gets dry in between oil cleanses, simply rub a few drops of oil between your fingertips and press it gently into your skin.

I use the oil cleansing method to cleanse my skin several times a week, and simply rinse my face with lukewarm water on my off days. In addition to simply being a great daily cleanser, oil is a powerful makeup remover.

05

Apply a Toner

Don’t forget to apply the ACV toner ~ this is really good in balancing your skin pH level.

Additional Tips:

① Cleaning your skin externally is a good idea but remember that as the largest organ in the body, it provides a reflection of internal health. There are several things you can do to enhance the cleansing effect.

② Drinking lots of water are essential for the elimination of toxins and the proper hydration of your skin. Increase your water intake, especially if you are consuming less than the recommended eight glasses per day.

③ Improving your diet and adding healthy nutrients to your meals will also enable you to enjoy picture-perfect skin. Start juicing. Consume raw fruits and vegetables. A salad for lunch will be the perfect option for healthier skin.

Substituting expensive cosmetics for natural skincare can deliver amazing results. Experiment with oil cleansing and enhance the effects of the procedure by changing some of your unhealthy habits.

A few necessary modifications can immediately make your skin more radiant and youthful.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.
