Face & Body Whitening Bath Powder For Lighter, Glowing Skin

After a summer of fun in the sun, my dark tan was fading and dull. It made me look absolutely washed out and older, not the look I’d hoped to achieve. It was time to lighten and even the tone of my skin.

Since it was also back-to-school time and the busiest part of the year next to the Christmas holidays.

I started searching the net to find a recipe that I could make once and store for several uses, saving the grind of making every time I wanted to use it.

I did find a base powder that was perfect. In fact, to make the final cream, you only needed to add one of four ingredients in it based on your skin type.

My effort to assemble all the ingredients led me to an aha moment. By purchasing an inexpensive ($15 or under) coffee grinder, I could save far more than its cost and have it available for other uses.

The orange flour cost me nothing since I saved and dried organic orange peel to create it. However, some of the flours were more inexpensive to buy as flour, such as the green gram flour.

Benefits of the Ingredients

The base powder recipe calls for four ingredients green gram or moong bean flour, orange peel powder, sandalwood powder, and chickpea or gram flour. Each one does something special for your skin.

Ingredients #1

Green Moong Bean

Green moong bean flour is used in many beauty formulas to brighten skin. It’s an excellent exfoliant, so one way it brightens is by removing dead skin cells to expose the new skin underneath.

Green Moong Bean flour is high in antioxidants, such as vitamin A and C, to protect skin cells. It helps lock in moisture while stimulating cell growth.

When you use it as an exfoliant, it also removes excess hair in the process. It is a deep cleanser, so it aids in eliminating blackheads and acne.

Ingredients #2

Orange Peel Powder

Orange peel powder acts as a natural bleaching agent and boosts skin health. It contains high amounts of the antioxidants Vitamin C and A, as well as flavonoids.

Orange peel powder also contains other vitamins, such as folate and other B vitamins.

It also has calcium, magnesium, and other nutrients that are good for the body and skin. It’s a safe, natural exfoliant that will remove dead skin cells and expose new cells to brighten and lighten your complexion.

I saved the peels of the oranges we ate and used my handy-dandy coffee grinder to keep the dried ground lemon peel powder on hand.

It’s great to soothe skin, but I also sprinkle the powder on my cereal, salad or other foods to give my body a healthy boost.

Ingredients #3

Sandalwood Powder

Sandalwood powder comes from sandalwood trees. The best type to use is the red or Indian sandalwood powder. It has natural disinfectant properties, while also moisturizing benefits.

It does that by creating a humectant, meaning it attracts moisture to the skin. It has a cooling, soothing effect on the skin. It acts as an astringent and helps even skin tone.

Ingredients #4

Besan Gram Flour

Chickpea or gram flour (besan) is another natural humectant for moisturizing skin that creates a water attracting barrier on the surface of the skin.

It also removes dead skin cells and has astringent properties.

The anti-microbial and antibacterial properties help clear acne and blemishes. It can be used to remove excess hair, while also providing anti-aging properties to help retain skin elasticity.

It contains a vast source of nutrients, including protein, folate, manganese, copper, magnesium, thiamine, phosphorus, iron, zinc, potassium, selenium and zinc. It has many benefits for the body when eaten and is gluten-free.

Ingredients #5

Goat’s Milk

The use of milk for beauty goes back to the days of Cleopatra. Goat’s milk contains lactic acid, which is a mild exfoliant.

Also, it is full of essential fatty acids that nourish the skin and fight inflammation.

Goat’s milk contains tons of minerals, vitamins and trace elements. It is a wonderful source of vitamin A, which protects the skin against premature aging. Finally, goat’s milk has anti-bacterial qualities.

Combined with its anti-inflammatory effects, these qualities turn it in a wonderful remedy for acne.

But Why Goat’s Milk Rather Than the Usual Cow’s Milk?

This milk is quite different from the more typical cow’s milk. It has a pH that is similar to the one of the human body. As a result, goat’s milk is tolerated better and absorbed quickly by the skin.

Whitening Bath Powder Recipe:

You’ll Need:

  • 3 tbsp Green moong bean powder
  • 3 tbsp Besan gram powder (chickpea powder)
  • 3 tbsp Sandalwood Powder (or use Fuller’s Earth powder)
  • 3 tbsp Orange peel powder
  • 3 tbsp Goat’s Milk powder (or whole fat milk powder)

Directions:

Just mix all the ingredients with the same amount of ratio (1:1) and place in a glass container with lid.  Store in a cool place or you can put it in the fridge.  Use the mixture when needed. Just grab 1 or 2 tbsp (according to your needs) of the mixture and create a paste.

You can create a paste from this powder with several different ingredients, based on your skin:

  1. For dry skin, mix it with raw milk, instead of water.
  2. Combine with curd/yogurt for oily or acne prone skin
  3. Mix with rosewater for normal skin.
  4. Add honey or lemon juice to it if you have wrinkles or want to lighten your skin tone.

Never let life impede on your ability to manifest your dreams. Dig deeper into your dreams and deeper into yourself and believe that anything is possible, and make it happen.
